When I started teaching, my classroom was just like every high school class I'd ever been in ... because it had worked for me!
The year my district adopted "digital 1-1" was my first year teaching middle school. So much about my teaching was changing that when my principal said "I'd like you to check out problem-based learning," it was an easy decision to blow it all up and try something new. Fast forward three years and I found myself back in high school, but I would never go back to being the desks-in-a-row, just-be-quiet-and-take-good-notes teacher I had been.
These opportunities for growth put me on the path to National Board Certification, Huntsville City Schools Secondary Teacher of the Year, and PAEMST state-level finalist. More importantly, it helped me build a classroom that was inviting and engaging for students, that I genuinely enjoyed being part of. I stepped out of the classroom for family reasons, but I wasn't ready to quit math education. I have been fortunate enough to be able to continue working with teachers and districts around the country.
Not everyone has the opportunity - or the support, or the need - to completely revamp their practice. Change can come in incremental steps, by large leaps, and along circuitous paths. Wherever you're headed, and whatever the timeline, I want to help. My goal is to offer the vision, training, and support that empower you to try bold things in your classroom or school.

Testimonials
"I recognized Becca's personality characteristics, instructional adeptness, and professional decorum, as someone who could provide what our teachers need to navigate this difficult and profound mind shift. Our personnel have unique and demanding needs that Becca is able to meet with a warm southern smile and gentle-firm and knowledgeable push-back that is comforting and reassuring to them."
-Christina, District Math Coordinator
"I left Becca's session feeling like I had something that would impact my classroom the next day. I knew what I wanted to do, and how I could share it with the teachers on my team.
-Joanna, Math Department Chair
